Compressor and Install Problems:

I recently bought the lastest Macbook Pro with Lion. The Apple Store recommended I migrate my Applications rather than clean install as the installer for FCS wouldn't work with Lion.

Compressor now has the greyed out submit button problem. I ran Compressor Repair, at some point it recognised my computer as a cluster, but then the actual batches would fail. Then it went back to not having my computer as a cluster again, and I can't refind it.

Everything is greyed out within QMaster on System Prefs as well.

The advice that I have read is to selectively trash Compressor and reinstall from the disks. But I see that I need something like Rosetta to install from the original FCS disks. And my old computer is on Leopard, 10.5.8 which I don't think I have the disk for anyhow, I think my basic Mac disk would be Tiger or whichever was before that. How do I get Compressor off and back onto my machine, and is there any fix to sort this out without having to go through all this? The issues I've had with FCS since getting this new system have really started to affect my work.

With thanks in advance.

Classic ignorance from the Apple Store. Migrating applications is not a good idea and it can lead to these sorts of problems.

First thing to try is deleting compressor preferences

You can use Preference Manager to do this

If you have the disks that came with your computer, you've got the OS install disks which will allow you to install Rosetta.

You could also try installing Rosetta off the Tiger Disk.
